Alex Burghart MP re-adopted as Conservative Candidate for the Brentwood & Ongar Parliamentary Constituency at the next General Election.
Brentwood & Ongar Conservatives met in Kelvedon Hatch on Saturday 25th February and have re-adopted Dr Alex Burghart MP as their Parliamentary Candidate for the Brentwood and Ongar Constituency at the next General Election.
Alex was first elected as Member of Parliament for Brentwood and Ongar on 8th June 2017 and was subsequently re-elected in the December 2019 General Election.
Alex is a former school teacher the son of two teachers. The first person in his family to go to university, he read history at Oxford before taking his doctorate at King’s College London where he taught and lectured.
Alex has served as a special advisor to Theresa May and also as Parliamentary Private Secretary to former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Alex has also served as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Apprenticeships and Skills at the Department of Education. Most recently, Alex was appointed by the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to work within the Cabinet Office as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State.

It was clear from their questions to Alex during the meeting that they are delighted to have been able to re-adopt Alex as our Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the next General Election. Since first being elected as our Member of Parliament back in 2017 Alex has shown himself to be a principled and hard-working parliamentarian who can be relied upon to do the right thing for his constituents and our country.
